Return to Action

So I’ve been pretty inactive over recent months due to a number of factors. Probably the biggest was that we bought a house (eek!), but there’s lots going on right now. One thing’s for sure right now; these times, they are a-changin’.

I’ll be posting more shortly. Just got the internet up and running at the new place, so there’s lots to sort.

Timewasters of the World

I’ve not got much excuse for having done so little with the site in the last 6-12 months, besides a wedding but I may be rather milking that one. It soon became clear that my neglect had worse effects than just my overactive guilty conscience: another useless timewaster somewhere in the world decided to write a script that makes my website turn into a spam emitter unless I keep wordpress constantly updated. Seriously, I feel like all I do in life these days is update things.

So if you’re joining us in the future, why not laugh at the idiotic people of today for (amongst other things) trying, unsuccessfully, to block GM salmon from being sellable in the US, without actually having any reasons. Can you believe people used to be this ignorant?? I know, right! Luckily we get there in the end.

If you’re joining us from the present; congratulations! You have remarkably unlikely timing. Or you check my site every day and are therefore part of my Fan Club. I love you guys.

However, if you’re joining us from the past; awesome! You’ve got the time travel thing sorted. Big props to you, it’s a toughie.

Autumn’s Eve

Having recently returned from visiting family-to-be in New Brunswick, Canada, the dust has come off old projects and I’m looking to get things moving again. September begins and- good grief, I can’t believe 2015 is drawing to a close. Apart from the fast-approaching wedding in October, the end of this year is a time for finishing things.

So that’s what I will be doing.

Picking up where we left off

I recently realised that I haven’t made any posts for a good long while. This is always the way of these things; after a gap, you feel the need to do something worth the wait, which only worsens the problem. New Year provides a useful occasion to carry on like nothing happened (or in this case, did happen).

So, Twenty-Fifteen, eh? We meet at last.

It’s shaping up to be a busy year. First up, in February I am pushing a new initiative I made up on the spot: Finish a Novel Feb. Specifically, I am looking to finish Chronozone. NaNoWriMo is all well and good for creating loads of rough, unfinished drafts but, well, it seems I can do that pretty well already. So come Feb, I will be committing to complete the draft of Chronozone Zero.

It’s not an initiative that’s going to catch on or anything; hardly a challenge worth a website for; but it will get me where I want to go. Wish me luck.

A Pilot at Last

So I’ve been pretty inactive on all fronts lately; namely my website, writing and unity projects. This has been in no small part due to a big push to complete my Private Pilot Licence over the past few weeks. It hasn’t been easy, but today marked completion of the last element of the course and I now have only to send off the application form itself (and get it approved by the CAA).

I first mentioned the ominous booking of a trial flying lesson back in January of 2009 and since then have made many ramblings on aviation, but it really does feel like the culmination of something epic today!

As an unrelated side-note, I’ve finally found a source of buying MP3s that I get on with, namely Amazon’s MP3 store. It’s been a while since I’ve got into any new music, which has led to a bit of a music-buying binge (particularly the retro-80s “Outrun” subgenre assembled by Rosso Corsa Records). The option to have any of it (and all of it) completely separated as downloaded MP3s may have helped, too. Cloud is okay as an option, but never been big into music “organisers”. Then again, that’s probably just iTune’s fault.

A lot of the world’s problems are probably iTune’s fault.

A Malicious Waste of Time

So hopefully you haven’t been checking the site in the last couple of days as I’ve been having some problems with the Blackhole Exploit Kit, a pathetic piece of malicious javascript that does all kinds of horrible things to webservers. Hopefully it has finally been seen off and I’ve just got to work on getting the place looking right again, but who really knows for sure. I will get this place sorted soon once it is stable again.

Thanks.

All I Wanted For Xmas…

In fact, what I’ve been aiming for since around 2001, was a decent working website that was easy to maintain and not too shabby looking. Hellenistic artillery move swifter than my web-building efforts over this past decade. And now that there are some fifteen days of it left, I have finally got it together and here we are. Novodantis.com. Finally.

I have uploaded a small sample of my various pieces of work and transferred over tidbits from various places like deviantArt, WriteWords & Blogspot. While I will be keeping some things separate, the idea is to focus my creative drive on one place: here.

So, welcome!
