Valya Free States
A small, scattered assortment of city states in the far north east, the Valya Free States (sometimes known as Free Valya) have a long and proud history of independence, despite years of attempted conquest by their neighbours: Great Brazak to the south west; and Ganzabar in the south. The United Sky Kingdoms is some way to the west, while further to the east is the Eastern Void. Eastern Void pirates are a significant problem for the Valyan cities. The head city of Free Valya is unofficially considered to be Damarus.
The VFS are expectedly of largely Valyan descent, although there is a small presence of Hal. The primary language is Valinn, although Azbuka is starting to erode the ancestral language and is becoming more common. The VFS accept almost any currency, with their own being preferred: the Old Laurin, said to pre-date the Floril itself.
