The Collapse

The Collapse was a brief period, spanning only decades, in which the Azrune fell apart and the Gold Age came to an end. Although much of the breakaway process led to bloodshed, some of the secessions and rebellions were resolved peacefully. However, the breakdown of unity resulted in a number of wars between the successor states. It was this series of inter-descendent conflicts, as opposed to fights with what was left of the Azrune, that largely obliterated the old Gold Age infrastructure across the majority of the world.

Nevertheless, there was a series of large-scale assaults on the remaining Gold Age strongholds, known as the Ninety-Nine-Days, which proved to be catastrophic for the Azrune. This period saw the greatest destruction of Gold Age infrastructure and technology than any other point in history. A small shard of the world unation, still holding the capital Nubylon, was all that remained. It would go on to be known as the nation of Azrune.

After the turmoil subsided, several hundred years of relative calm followed in which much of the shattered world beyond Azrune was rebuilt, while the First Nation shut out the rest of the world. This period was known as the The Long Night.
