Formed in 9260, Locke & Samson Heavy Industries is perhaps best known for its versatile Foxtail Duplane skyfighter, although the company produces a wide variety of military and aerospace hardware.

History

The company was founded by the wealthy private engineer Dauphan Locke and his close friend Myers Samson, formerly of the North Brazak Electrical Company. They went into business producing airship components subsidised by the Great Brazak government, specialising initially in propulsion systems. Over time the company expanded into weapons and avionics, eventually manufacturing their own monoplane and duplane designs.

When war with Ganzabar broke out, Locke & Samson's defensive monoplane the Sprockworth Z was brought into heavy duty service. The intense battles of the war quickly highlighted the Sprockworth's shortcomings and the Brazak government soon contracted L&S to design a successor: the Foxtail Duplane. Samson is often credited as the designer, although Locke was responsible for its legendary Mithron engine.

The Foxtail went on to perform extremely well and still does so today, after many revisions. The company also maintains its reputation in the airship components business as a top quality producer of engines and diheds.

Locke & Samson Azrune

In 9311, due to the pressures of the Occupation on the business, the company founded a branch of operations in Azrune, most notably producing the Azrunite version of the Foxtail.
