== Naming in Laro ==

In Laro & Sval culture, a person's middle name reflects their mother's name. For example, if Reyna Lindotya Zarunski had a son called Tomas, his full name would be Tomas Renyavik Zarunski. If Renya had a daughter called Naki, she would be Naki Rendotya Zarunski (notice how the last syllable is dropped with girls). To complicate matters further, Laro and Svallic people will generally only use their final, family name in very formal occasions and on paperwork. Therefore they will typically introduce themselves as "Naki Rendotya" rather than "Naki Zarunski".

It should be noted that [[Kiy Tanthar]] is unusual in this aspect as he has been well travelled and typically uses the more [[Hal]]-like "Kiy Tanthar" rather than "Kiy Tatyanavik".

Family names are passed on patronymically, by marriage, as with many other cultures.
