Explosive warheads that are delivered by gravity alone, via an aircraft that flies at a higher altitude than its target, are known as Dum Bombs. This mis-spelling originates from the acronymn Detonate Upon Meeting; referring to the bomb's trigger being set off simply by falling onto something rather than any sophisticated delivery. It is also considered to be a 'dumb' weapon, having no form of targetting.
